An Appeal to Walton Commissioners

Commissioners Chapman, Jones, Nipper, Comander, Anderson: You wasted a lot of taxpayer money in these past years simply by failing to act or failing to do the decent, ethical thing. It’s time to start putting things right for the taxpayers in Walton County.

As Corrections, Animal Control, Fire and Rescue no longer fall under your purview, it’s time to closely examine the necessity of a top-heavy administration with two deputy administrators. According to the grossly outdated BCC website, don’t you have a public info officer, most remaining departments report to Ms. Hinote with just a few to Sunday, one of them being Public Works.

Public Works the largest department in the BCC is directed by an individual who is not a professional engineer, not an engineer, and not even a high school graduate maybe GED holder. This Larry Jones decision to elevate him to director ran off the best engineer Walton had ever seen. Has any study been conducted to see just how much money went to external engineering cos to do those things a qualified engineer could do in house? Craziness abounds in Walton. Since Sunday who can add misanthropy and misogyny to his resume has no work left other than butting into departments under Hinote’s supervision or drooling over the promise of becoming the next County Admin, why not adjust staff with tax payers tax dollars in mind: Send Sunday to be the Director of Public Works and adjust his salary accordingly; send the current director back to his old job; promote Ms Hinote to Asst County Admin with a pay raise that makes her salary competitive and actually reflects her contributions. Why put Sunday in Public Works you ask? Well according to him he knows how to do everything better than anybody, knows more law than a lawyer, more politics than a politician, more medicine than a doctor. Why Sunday is the sharpest tool in the shed. Just ask him he’ll tell you if he deigns to speak to you at all.

Next, why hire a new hr director? Again according to the BCC website human resources has a staff of 5 including the director. What? Huh? Do you need a director for 4 people with very narrow job responsibilities? Just HR. Not safety, not risk management, not training. Larry Jones created new department for those, maybe cuz the recently fired hr director didn’t have those skills? don’t know The three previous HR heads did have those skills, two forced to retire and the other laid off. Laid off? Laid off my my aunt fanny. She was one of only three with all the requisite skills to run that department. Bet you there’s a story there. Three stories. One for Linda R who also ran the department fine but fell from favor, one for Brady B also forced to retire. Here’s a money-saving suggestion: Hire a hr supervisor with the education skills experience and clean financial background to oversee 4 workers. Anything more is wasteful. Here’s another idea if you don’t like the last: recombine training, safety and risk with hr and hire one qualified person to manage or direct all. I understand Linda R Brady B the retired and Nancy M the laid off may still be available though I doubt they’d touch the BCC again. Last, when she decides to fill the hr job let Hinote chose her own panel of interviewers that excludes Sunday and Jones. The dept reports to her and Jones and Sunday were heavily vested, ahem, in choosing the now departed alleged thief.

You need to check the website again. The Public Information officer is listed under admin at the bottom. On the mobile site his picture and info is at the very bottom of the public information page.

Not really. Dont really care just noticed Eel a May's name and contact info still appear on the site as the Director of HR despite being terminated or was she allowed to resign?

According to the Public Information Officer she was terminated along with Walters Jan. 4.

Did you or Suzanne H receive a copy of the BCC termination letter? someone said they requested it from public records but i dont remember who it was. I am suspicious of a termination / was it really?/ since the eel holds many secrets that admin x 2 doesnt want seen or heard in the light of day

The letter was requested, I'll check and see if its been turned over.

Seems from the job posting that risk management, safety and training are being added back to this job. If not, those *essential functions* should not be there as they drive up considerably what a competitive starting salary should be. Be warned that this recruiting org has cooperated in county selection tomfoolery previously when Larry Jones was *chosen* for his current position.
