EGLIN WORKER SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORN
John Wesley Sirmans of Niceville was sentenced Friday to 84 months in prison for receiving child pornography.
The sentence was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.
Sirmans, 61, was a civilian contractor at Eglin AIr Force Base who accessed child pornography images through the Internet using his work computer.
At his guilty pleas, Sirmans admitted that between June and December of 2014, he knowingly received child porn as charged in the indictment. Sirmans had over 800 pictures of child porn in his office at Eglin AFB.
The investigation was conducted by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, the Air Force OSI and other federal agencies.
He is currently being held in the Santa Rosa County Jail on order of the U.S. Marshal’s Service.
