Annual Beach Cleanup - 7/5/08

New posts
My family will be there for our annual 2 week 4th of July vacation. We love the parade and all of the other festivites, but I can't take the insanity of the war zone on the beach every year. I can't believe that we haven't seen some serious injuries. I would much rather watch from afar, and help clean up the mess the next morning!

We will clean up the beach down our way Sat morning; that'd be Inlet Beach access back westward, walking the beach and cleaning leftovers from the barrage, the beer tabs and cans, the plastic trail left like a snail's sticky mark by the less thoughtful of humanity's hordes. Hope that's OK with the PTB (Powers That Be). Inlet Beach Owner and familia....

Rise and shine!

It looks to be a big cleanup this morning, judging from the number of fireworks we saw all up and down the beach. Grayton's "show" started before sunset and was still going on when we left the beach after Seaside's show.

A big thank you to anyone spending their morning cleaning up a big mess! Please report back so we can applaud you.

Pick up a bag for me. And, thanks to everyone for doing their part to reclaim the beaches!

Definitely a BIG cleanup in Grayton ....before we left last night, we picked up 4 grocery bags of dead fireworks....and then got chased off the beach by our finest.

Grayt fun last night and quite a show....only one idiot and I'll add a thread in a bit about that.

Might I make a suggestion. If you live on the beach and do not want to participate in the organized beach clean up or feel you are physically unable to do so, do as my wife and I did this morning. Do the stretch of beach you live on from one end to the other. If we all did at least that, fireworks trash would be kept to a minimum. We got two WalMart bags full this morning just off our small stretch of beach.

We'll be there at 10:00 to get the leftovers. There were mega, many, mucho people at Grayton Beach last night doing fireworks. It was unbelievable. I told people as they were leaving to be there today to clean up. We'll see how that works.

Was the idiot the one who decided - twice - that fireworks are better seen at eye level than in the air?
