A coworker's 15 month old son fell and banged his head last night and they just found out he has broken his back. He is apparently able to move all his limbs but he stopped walking or standing this morning. The little kid never cried. So, pray for them if you would.

I will definitely pray for him and his family.

I know how awful it is to have something bad happen to a small child. When my brother was 5, we were playing in a friend's front yard. A drunk driver lost control of his car, ran over my brother, and came within inches of running over me. The driver was jailed and hung himself in the jail cell that night. It made the national news. We got sympathy cards from all over the country. My mother was so grieved that she stayed in her bedclothes for a year. My father spent all of his time at the cemetary for months; thankfully he owned a family business, and his brothers took over for him. I was 8, and the maid got off every day at 5 PM. So I cooked the meals at night - TV dinners. My mother never got over it. For years she would lock herself in the bathroom with a butcher knife and threaten to kill herself. Subsequently she and my dad had another son and daughter so that I wouldn't be an only child. My siblings and I never knew when we got home from school if we'd find Mom in a pool of blood. She's still crazy and on meds. My dad couldn't take the stress - he died at 54 of a sudden heart attack.

I know this story is tangential, but my point was to show how devastating something bad happening to a small child can be to the family.

I believe in the power of prayer, and with all of us SoWal members praying, have faith that this child who broke his back will make a complete recovery.

Thats my stepsons daughter MADELINE.....she is smoochable!!!! I am NOT a 37 year old grandma.....I am a " LA-LA" btw...she is five months old.
