Are too many of us becoming twits?

New posts
Not me. I refuse to tweet. I already get pissed when I am sitting in a room with my family and they are texting, tweeting, and facebooking with each other!!! I also facebook, but I am not addicted.

On the other hand, I used to love to get letters. That's a thing of the past. Every now and again my father-in-law will send me a letter. They are dog-eared but I love them and keep them in a special place. Long after he's gone I'll have them. Can't say that about a tweet.

you are so right about letters. and cards too! I LOVE sending and receiving them. and still send and receive them though not nearly as much as in the past. I try to make an effort to send a handwritten note to loved ones now and then. because I know how special it feels when I get one.

I agree Ladies... when I want "say" something with lots of feeling and gravity I send a snail card. I LOVE receiving my Mother's handwritten letters. Everything is cyclical. It may take 50 years... but I predict that eventually (if USPS doesn't go the way of pay phones) things will cycle back to the "rediscovery" of the hand written letter or card and face-to-face-full-attention conversation. It's OUR job as 'old timers' ;) to keep these valuable traditions alive until they become fashionable again!!

I pitch hissy fits when people are texting while we're supposed to be having a personal visit. I don't buy the "I'm so busy-important-talented because I multi-task" defense. It's LAME justification for rude superficial behavior.

YEP. I'm just a sceery OLD broad.

Scary Old Broad. SOB. hmmmmmmm... some of us may want to join up. could also be Scary Old Bat.

I went to the Twit site many moons ago and it gave me a seizure. Next thing I know, Brent Spiner is sending me tweets. I mean, who the hail cares what Brent Spiner is doing. He's an android or something.

I'm not on Facebook anymore. I don't want the funn side of my life to jeopardize the professional side of my life. In particular, I don't want photos of me having funn or stuff in my personal life to be posted for all the world to see, identifiable by MY NAME.

About the only tweets I make have to do with Gator sports. Otherwise, I'm just a follower on Twitter.

I'm like you old school girls -- I too like written cards. Thankfully our daughter is an artist, so she paints cards for us with personalized messages.

I understand your point about personal vs. professional BR. Wonderful cards from your daughter. True Treasure!

As a little girl, I loved the anticipation of walking to the mailbox with my Mother (l-o-n-g driveway)... we would talk about what wondrous things we might receive.
To this day I look forward to JJ's mail delivery. Despite constant disappointment, I continue holding my little girl hope for the million $ check... or a nice card!

Nothing beats a handwritten letter or card!

I have a drawer full of stationary/blank notecards and will sometimes make/paint cards too. It takes me 5-10 minutes and makes someone's day or week to get a nice handwritten card - well worth it!

P.S. I am still mad that they changed stamps to stickers. So much less elegant.
