Are too many of us becoming twits?

New posts
I got pulled in because of our daughter. If I want to find out what's going on with her or how she's feeling, I check Twitter. She HATES talking on the phone. :idontno:

young folks do not use their phone for talking anymore. period. end of story. the phone is a communication tool for everything else though.

I can't think of anyone I find so interesting I would want to follow them on Twitter. :idontno:

I do text - it's like sending a quick memo to multiple people. Don't have conversations that way though - that's why I have a phone!

I might follow Russell Crowe on twitter. might.

yes I like to text but ONLY because its very easy on the iphone. and its a quick and easy way to send a message. but if a conversation is in order then the phone is the way to go.

I've never tweeted. I just don't really get it I guess. old timey person here.

BR, do you tweet?
Yes, I occasionally tweet when I want to send a message to family and friends who follow me.

I'll have to admit that some of our daughter's tweets are interesting and funny as heck. Because of her wedding blog, the wedding industry follows her, photographers follow her, graphic designers follow her, and artists follow her. Also foodies follow her, as well as several businesses on 30A.

Like you, I prefer to talk. I never learned to type, so typing when I could talk at a much faster rate is EXTREMELY annoying to me. On the other hand, our daughter can type as fast as I talk.

You are right. It's because you can multitask while tweeting/texting/emailing, whereas in a phone conversation, you have to give your primary attention to that one person.

I'm old school too, Toots.

It depends on the young people - Scooterbro is not on Facebook either and the most effective way to reach him is to email or call his land line/cell until he answers - because he doesn't check messages or read texts.

I have a gaggle of nieces and nephews ranging from 13 to 25 using their cell phones for primary communication tools (and another gaggle of very small ones - they don't have cell phones yet believe it or not). they may return a phone call but it will not be answered (I'm kind of this way too). they may acknowledge an email but mostly they don't do email at all. its all texting, tweeting, and whatever else they do with cell phones, I don't even know. but one or two of the boys - forget it - they don't even bother keeping their cell phones with them half the time so there is NO reaching them. FB - that is where they do a lot of socializing but that is just very superficial. so it kind of seems to boil down to a lot of texting with their buds.

Not me. I refuse to tweet. I already get pissed when I am sitting in a room with my family and they are texting, tweeting, and facebooking with each other!!! I also facebook, but I am not addicted.

On the other hand, I used to love to get letters. That's a thing of the past. Every now and again my father-in-law will send me a letter. They are dog-eared but I love them and keep them in a special place. Long after he's gone I'll have them. Can't say that about a tweet.

I don't do Twitter, Facebook or anything else and don't care to do so. SoWal is bad enough.:D

you are so right about letters. and cards too! I LOVE sending and receiving them. and still send and receive them though not nearly as much as in the past. I try to make an effort to send a handwritten note to loved ones now and then. because I know how special it feels when I get one.
