High school peeps and parents - be aware that SWHS's school day will now start at 7:45 a.m. This may not be a biggie for many of y'all, but we used to leave the house at 7:45.

And unless something has changed, there is still no access from 331 except via Coastal Centre. BE CAREFUL there and on J.D. Miller Rd.

I know some do not want another stop light on Hwy. 98, but if they watched student drivers, as well as parents, trying to cross over to JD Miller Rd to get to SWHS I think you would be concerned. Monday thru Friday between 7:35-8:00 a.m. so many cross over in front of oncoming cars from the east and it gets pretty scary....too many close calls!

With school beginning at 7:45 that pushes everyone in a hurry up a notch! Does anyone know what the process is of getting a light there....even a caution light?

VERY excited about the new Bay principal- Tamara Hightower! We are looking forward to a wonderful year!

Tamara is such a nice person and I was so happy to hear she will be the new principal of Bay. I was talking with her the last week and she was busy and excited....working hard to know the names of the students. I know she will do a wonderful job!

but should a 93% on a test earn a B?

Why not? When I got a 93% (in an advanced/AP class) it was a B+.............and we didn't have weighted classes/grades either.

C is supposed to be "average", "B" is supposed to be "above average", "A" is supposed to be WELL above average.

I make my kids ride the bus. Takes care of all those traffic problems and saves gas!

Don't know- maybe something to do with the switch from block to traditional schedule, or bus route timing? It's 15 minutes, so not a deal breaker, and middle school currently starts at 7:30.

The switch to seven periods would be my guess as well.

The buses have traditionally been at SW before that time anyway because, as jdarg pointed out, ECMS starts at 7:30 and middle and high share the same buses.

I asked my daughter the same thing....just wondering? She is a Junior at SWHS this year and said it's to give them a little more time between classes now that they've gone to 7.
