Barking Dogs

New posts
Let me offer you some advice, from the vault of 30-gAy’s personal opinions:

There are few problems that a good interior design solution can’t solve.

First, I would look into a bedroom makeover, specifically one which incorporates heavy drapes along the entire exterior wall of your bedroom so as to absorb sound. This can be a fabulous look.

Second, I would build a trellis somewhere along the property line between you and your neighbor. Plant it with vines, and it too will help reduce noise and will provide a visual screen.

Third, buy a vintage 1930’s era cocktail shaker. Use it to make yourself a martini every evening before bed, and you’ll sleep through anything.

Incidentally, my belief in Interior Design as the solution to all the world’s problems extends to international relations as well. I’ve been writing Condoleezza Rice repeatedly telling her to send the North Koreans some Ralph Lauren paint. I mean Jeez, if I lived in an all gray world, I would want to nuke somebody too.

See now I would take a different design stance in this situation which would be less costly. I would just pad all the walls in a lovely seafoam green and then buy a designer straight jacket.

eh? Meet the "new and improved" JB.

JB, you're fresh out of rehab?! :clap_1:

There is a gadget I have seen for sale in the Sky Mall catalog that somehow or the other shuts-up the neighbor's dogs. You could always fry up a batch of hushpuppies:rolling:

Are you my neighbor? :idontno:

Seriously, mine are all in at night but are capable of waking up the neighborhood even so. All it takes is for one to bark and they all chime in. :nono1: We are working on that.
good neighbor, SsN!! I admire you!

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions. The neighbor is NOT a nice person, so talking to him is out of the question. We've tried to politely talk to him, but he cops an attitude and tells us to stay out of his business.
    ...try my dad's air gun suggestion....pavlov's dog and all that...that will fix them

This is a ruff one. :idontno:

is this dog on summer wind or georgie? i got woken up at 2 by this dog and it was finally silenced around 2:30. don't the other neighbors feel the same as you? you can't be the only one affected.

You guys!?!?! Why not just go straight to the source if the owner is an a$$ hole!!! I think you should just ask the dogs politely to stop barking.:idontno:

BowLingual Dog Bark Translator

Bow-Lingual was developed by experts in acoustics and animal behavior, the Bow-Lingual uses voiceprints to determine what your dog is trying to tell you. Bow-Lingual is the result of years of work by multiple organizations. The researchers created over 5000 voiceprints of different dogs and determined that there are six fundamental patterns to their barks. They then worked with animal behaviorists, veterinarians and dog owners to identify which emotion was being expressed.
