The only thing that beats sunset over Choctawhatchee Bay is sunset over the Gulf of Mexico...and sometimes not even that. Awesome!

I am only 30 miles from West Point Lake, 20 from Callawy Gardens in Pine Mountain but my choice for time off is always the Gulf. It's been my favorite place for more years than I am willing to admit.
I hear ya. I like having a view of West Point Lake, but would never go in it. To me, lakes are yucky because you can't see the bottom, and when you step on the bottom, it's all gooey and gross. We owned three cottages at Callaway Gardens for years - never even saw them, much less stayed there. We recently sold them because (a) they were unprofitable after the tax laws changed because the rental management fees there are so high, and (b) we prefer a real beach, not the man-made beach at Callaway Gardens. The only time that was fun was when we drove there from Atlanta for our high school spring picnics and got to show off our bikini-clad bodies to the guys.

The bay has sand on the bottom, so somehow that's not as yucky to me as mud.

The photos are great. Wish I were there.

Went to Cascades for drinks and the sunset....it was a great one!!!
