At the link below you will find the agenda for the upcoming regular BCC meeting. The items that pertain to South Walton are highlighted in yellow. Items up for discussion include:

  • A request for approval to spend approximately $600,000 on the PD&E study for the potential additional connector road between 30A and 98 in Seagrove (Item 28),
  • A request for approval to advertise and hold a TDC Public Workshop for Beach Code Revisions on September 25th,
  • A request to consider a template license agreement with beachfront property owners for garbage collection on the beach (Item 37), and
  • A citizen’s request by a newly formed nonprofit, Florida Beaches for All, to discuss a letter they sent to the county requesting “that all beach maintenance and code enforcement activities that have been customarily provided on our beaches for the past 30 years be resumed immediately.” (Item 39).

I sure hope trash collection along the entirety of the beach continues. That should benefit all.

Has anything been proposed to the beachfront owners around trash collection from the beach itself? That might be well received as a good will gesture to allowing people to use their property. Other beach communities have this in place. I think we all grown sick and tired of picking up others' trash during walks on the beach. Those who care to do so that is....

Some beachfront owners said the county trash trucks (or any other vehicles) can't drive on their "private beach property" so the county stopped trash collection on the beaches.

Then they re-instated it for some area east and west ends where they don't have to cross the jackoffs' "private property".
