The Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota has an excellent web site where lifeguards post beach conditions for numerous locations on the southwest Florida gulf coast. These reports are updated twice a day. I think it would be an excellent idea for the Florida panhandle to have a similar web page.

Here is an example of a report:
Last Report: 07/31/2008 2:59pm
Water Color: Dark
Wind Direction: W
Surf Conditions: Rough
Dead Fish: None
Respiratory Irritation: None
Beach Flag: Red
Red Drift Algae: Some
Red Drift Location: On Beach
Surf Type: Wind Chop
Surf Height: 2-3
Rip Currents: Present
I would be curious to hear what others think.
