And as far as the metal finger picks go, yes, you absolutely need them to play authentic 5-string bluegrass/Scruggs-style banjo. No need for them if you play 4-string/clawhammer style, but hardly anyone does that anymore.

And KB- Bdarg and Will managed to hack out the first part of Foggy Mountain Breakdown too- took about 2 days. Maybe if I could get that far I would get some confidence. At this point I don't even know what to do with my "metal fingers"!

Wish I could -may be tough for me as I will have my girls with me (ages almost 6 and almost 2).
