What a funn night at Grayton! Smilin' Joe, Kurt, Tootsie, Sueshore, and Lee John...a grazing supper on the beach at sunset, followed by fleeing the advance of a thunderstorm. Went back up to Conch Out and listened to the badly needed rain drumming on the tin roofs while we watched the light show from the deck. I like these people soooo much!
Lots of stuff going on down here. I can see changes coming, some maybe not so good but others that will be beneficial. Today I heard about a giant conveyor belt that is assisting with beach restoration at WaterColor...am going to check this out to see if the tool might be applicable to wine caves excavation. Also getting the scoop on the real estate market from several folks in-the-know and there is more good news than otherwise. Yes, there are fewer buyers and a lot of inventory. But the best is yet to come for those who can be patient and hang in there OR who are looking for an opportunity to get into the market at less than astronomical prices.
As for the beaches, I have never seen them look better and the color of the water is so blue/green azure that it makes one's teeth hurt. We are having our French doors painted exactly that color.
Also found out that there about five fairly well known haunted houses around our area, with some great stories reported by the housekeepers.
Captain Anderson's is still lovely and you can get a combo plate of grouper filets with oysters or scallops by asking (not on the menu). The D&K is still cranking away and I hear that the same owners are coming back, just in a different garb. I will give you an update on the Busy Bee Cafe in DeFuniak after I go on Thursday. Looking forward to seeing some of you on the beach or at the Grayton Homeowners' meeting on Saturday.

We walked down to Western Lake this morning and it was stunning...smooth as glass.
