Beach Trip

Beach Lover
Just returned yesterday from Sowal. We had such great weather and a relaxing time. Saturday when we arrived we wheeled into the 331 for lunch....which was a swordfish salad. Yummy. Then we headed to the house and hit the beach for a few hours. I had never felt the ocean so warm...like bath water. Saturday night we tried the Gravel Road. My grouper was absolutely delish. Hubby had flank steak. Liked it.

Sunday was a beach day. Had reservations for Borago. Appetizer (scallops) from all the recommendations here melted in your mouth. Salad great....then it went downhill. Took us 50 minutes to get our food. Hubby ordered the special and it came so cold the sauce was congealed. They were very nice however and took our dinners off the bill without us even asking them to and got hubby a fresh pasta dish quickly. The food with the exception of hubby's special was all great but I think I will never be able to get him to go back. :pissed:

Monday....another beach day....with a friend from Bonifay coming over to hang out with us. Monday night....Red Bar. Chicken and fresh fish and tiramisui. Got to see Dread. :clap_1: Also got to meet Smiling JOe.

Explored the area on Tuesday and meet a friend at Whale's Tail for lunch. Grilled out steaks that night and were depressed that we had to leave the next morning. :(

Looking forward to my next trip in less than two months. ;-)

Thanks for the report, T. I am so sorry to hear about your service at Borago's as it is one of my favorites. I frequently dream of those scallops. I am sure it was very crowded and hope you'll give it another chance.

Tamara, sounds like a near perfect trip! I especially appreciate all the food details. :D Hope you can convince hubby to give Borago another chance; but so glad you got to "see" for yourself how great those legendary scallops are!

Thanks for the report Tamara, glad you had a great time. I always try to like scallops. Mr OL loves them. I always think they taste fishy. I wonder if I would ike Borago's scallops.:idontno:

Pea, what is a puffle?

THANKS for the report, Tamara!!!! Glad you had grayt weather! Isn't the Red Bar the BEST???????
PS.....Did you think SJ was a jerk????? :floor: :floor:

I will give Borago another try with my girlfriends in November without the hubby. I have never been a big scallop or tomato fan but this dish is out of this world. I must say that Red Bar is my favorite....so many good memories from there.

Peapod I love your tar. That movie was the best.

sounds like a really nice trip tamara. you and your girlfriends will have a great time at borago - start out at the bar - it's the best bar in town. then gravitate to dinner at your leisure. every single item on that menu is divine (delicious and beautiful food but not too fancy/smancy). but I guess any restaurant will screw up an order time to time - even borago - though it doesn't happen often I can assure you!

I am glad you had a good, safe trip tamara. Loved the report. Welcome back!
