On Christmas morning, 15 years ago................

seems like yesterday

You're going to make me cry sentimental tears in a minute! That's wonderful that you both obviously look at each other with the same eyes 15 years hence. Perfect.

Y'know, I can't remember a "best" Christmas present--they've all been pretty good, I guess. But one particular Christmas really, really sticks in my mind because I was so steamed about it! It was when I was in college. I was in my horrible teenage angst, parents-are-the-enemy stage and I think I went too far and got my parents mad at me. Mad enough that I got only 2 presents that year. Yep, only two. You know what I got?

Two slips. One black. One white. I have to say they were very nice slips, but slips? For Christmas? And that's all?

The funny thing is that I wore those slips out! I never got a present I used so much. So I guess the joke was really on me. I got really fond of those slips and hated it whent the elastic finally wore out and the lace tattered. It was traumatic to toss them after a decade (or more!) or wearing them. :(

Totally dating myself here but what the hay!

I grew up watching the Roy Rogers show on Sat. mornings. I was so in love with Roy and Dale (not to mention Trigger.) My Grandmother gave me the Dale Evans doll for Christmas! Complete with fringe, cowboy hat, boots and all. Oh Lord! I was in Cowgirl Heaven !!!!!!

Aww, that's cute...you made me remember a couple of mine. When I was 3 or 4 I got a Drowsy doll. Cute little thing in pink and white polka dots. You would pull her string and she would say..I'm drowsy Mommy. I loved her so much I wore her out and got another the next Christmas. They made a retro comeback the year before last and my Mom bought be another one.

Then there was Mrs. Beasley, my Velvet and Chrissy dolls and another favorite..a Shirley Temple doll.

Ahhh! The good ol' days. Glad I enjoyed it then and didn't wait to figure it out later that they were"the good ol' days."

Sounds like a lot of us did! :clap_1:

One of my most favorite gifts was a set of Clairol electric rollers when I was about 12. They had just come out on the market and it was a big deal to get a set. I was so excited. When my parents were out of town one day, I carefully unwrapped the gift, admired them and even plugged them in!! Then, re-warpped them and put them back under the tree. BUT, it took all the thrill out of receiving such a cool gift!! I never unwrapped a gift early again!

Johnrudy, you'll get a kick out of this. My 17 year old daughter wants a hair appliance for Christmas, but NOT the Clairol electric rollers that we all drooled over. Big curls are out for these girls! What they want is exactly the opposite: electric ceramic hair straighteners. Good ones can cost close to $100!

You're right. Good ones are $$$$. We have a cheap one from Ulta, about $50 (!!) and I iron my son's hair for him sometimes! Yes, even boys do it too.

The bicycle that my husband gave me for Christmas, the first year that we were dating. It was a royal blue and hot pink Trek with fat tires so I would feel safer than with a road bike. I think that's when I fell in love with him. He has been the best present of my life, actually.

Best $100 this curly haired girl ever spent! Love it! (My hair even stayed straight at the beach! :clap_1: )
