TooFarTampa, you're in for the long haul! When my college-age son goes back to school, he packs extra cans of Spaghettios. I'd sooner starve than eat that mush!

I'm with you, but they love it! And there are vitamins in there, or so it says on the can. I also gave them raspberries, so that's more vitamins right?
:idontno:

I guess I would be more inspired to cook if a) I was better at it and b) I could count on everybody liking any one meal. Picky picky picky!

I agree with a & b! I went to 3 different drive-thrus today while we were out.

I felt like Loser Mom of the Year this morning! Kate got a Furby for Christmas and hasn't put it down. She walked out of her room this morning, clutching Furby in a death grip, and said "Mommy, please don't sell Furby in a yard sale. I want to have him forever."

This is based on one stinking toy I got rid of months ago, and she asked about it last week. :bang: Now she'll probably tell everybody that I sell all her toys at yard sales!

i think my mom may have reachest the highest level of mother of the year. she didn't even call me on christmas ! here i am slaving away all night long, and they didn't even call to tell me they were going out of town on christmas day to see friends. once you reach a certain age, you kind of get forgot about i guess.

Audie, they were probably just acknowledging your independence!

I think I must win Mother of the Year award for dinner though...

Christmas Dinner was at our son's, daughter's-in-law (and grandsons!) home this year.

Well, our daughter-in-law was going to prepare Christmas Dinner for her side of the family...and it was to be "our year" for our side of the family at our home. But with 2 small children and a long drive facing them with those 2 small children, Michael and Terra invited us to go there the weekend before Christmas and Terra was going to cook Christmas Dinner for us.

SO, rather than Terra being "saddled" cooking two Christmas Dinners this year, dinner at her home for her side of the family, AND for us "our Christmas Dinner" was on us...Whole Foods Market already prepared, cooked or chilled...Mediterranean Cheese Platter, Jumbo Shrimp and Snow Crab Claw Platter, two "organic" stuffed, boneless turkey breasts, artisan herb stuffing, green beans with shallots, sweet potato and horseradish gratin, country mashed potatoes, turkey gravey, "traditional" dinner rolls and two Toffee Puddings (one w' creme anglaise and one w' hard brandy sauce)...dinner was great and no one cooked!

Come on now...I have to win?! No one cooked...remember?...and there were lots of leftovers :clap_1:

Well, when I think about it, Terra had volunteered to do two Christmas Dinners this year, so I think I know who really wins here. What a lovely daughter-in-law we have!

whitesands, i think those are the best kind of dinners to have ! christmas is for being with family, not slaving away in the kitchen. my mother in law slaves away every year, it's like she's a kitchen elf we never see. i would rather eat cold cuts and be able to visit than have an elaborate dinner. plus we are finding that the in-laws are not foodaholics like us - they only eat because they have to, they are not obsessed with it like my hubby and i. sometimes things are either too spicy or too bland. i taught my husband to cook after we were married and he cooks better than me now !

just talked to mom - they are afraid to call the week i work because everyone lives in mortal fear of waking me up when i am working. it is not pretty when i get awakened early :D
