 I agree. There is not much pie I do not like. I love my mom's lemonade pie recipe that makes two pies. A good cold dessert during hot weather as you freeze them both! I like a chocolate peanut butter pie also.

Oooooooh! I love that lemonade pie! Maybe I'll make that instead...much easier! Thanks for the idea. Hadn't thought of it in a while!! :clap_1:

Beachrunner, I would love to have your black beans and rice recipe with grilled chicken and your daughter's chicken taco recipe. Chicken is something I could eat seven days a week!
Here's the black beans recipe - very easy. I just grilled the chicken in olive oil with garlic salt and a little red pepper flakes. I haven't typed up the chicken taco recipe yet. My daughter wrote it out on a deposit slip while we were waiting for our food at Houston's.

Easy Black Beans and Rice
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup chopped onions
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
1/2 bunch of chopped fresh cilantro (or 1/2 teaspoon dried cilantro to save time)
4 minced garlic cloves plus 1/2 teaspoon salt (or 1 teaspoon garlic salt to save time)
2 (15 ounces each) cans of black beans
1 (16 ounce) can diced Progresso tomatoes
Rice

Heat olive oil in a large skillet. Add onion and green pepper, and saut? until tender. Stir in remaining ingredients and cook on medium-low heat for about 20 minutes. Serve over rice. Serves 6.

Glad it gave you another idea destindreamin. They are very easy to make. My kind of pie. Thanks beachrunner, for the recipe. Going to print it off now. Sounds yummy! All this food is making me hungry!

We're having a quiet day--maybe just putzing around the yard and enjoying the weather. We need to recover from the weekend! We've had two parties and one 500 race so far and we're drop dead exhausted today. There's only so much excitement a body can take.

Good stuff. I just made it with a few modifications..no rice and fresh tomoates. I had used green pepper before in my blakc beans, but the garlic and cumin made such a difference. Quite yummy! Thanks :clap_1:

Happy Memorial Day everyone. Destindreamin, that Marie Callender's Turtle Pie was delicious. Very sweet and rich though. Could eat another piece. Will be taking some to my son and his wife this evening after she gets off from work. Decided not to go swimming. It would be me and my son and his boss who is around my son's age. Do not want to crimp their style. He said he and his wife were at the pool yesterday with several big women, one of which he said looked like the iceberg that sank the Titanic and another looked like the earthquake that shook San Francisco. He is too much! Pretty day here, 92 right now with heat index of 99 but the humidity is low for us at 48%. Rain nearby in Arkansas but I do not know whether we will see any of it. Hope so!

I just got back from spending the weekend in the Hamptons. We had a funn time, don't get me wrong, but I prefer Crab Island on a 'toon boat to lounging at the Southampton Beach Club. I'd rather run into DJ Vladi than Russell Simmons as well. And the water- forget it! It was freeeezzzzinnnggg! As expected. Don't get me wrong, it was nice. Real nice, and I made a good job contact, but Memorial Day isn't Memorial Day without Bud Lite in new koozies and being surrounded by rednecks.

I bet that pie was good! It was a hot one here, but not any warmer than you had I don't think. It's just so dang dry!! We need rain so bad!! Mr. dd is grilling chicken as we speak and I'm making the sauteed mushrooms, grilled corn and tomato slices. Didn't make the lemonade pie--no one came over, and I would eat the whole thing by myself!!

Isn't that where Billy Joel lives Kimmifunn? See any celebs? I am sure that Southampton Beach Club was fancy! I don't like freezing water of any kind! Ocean or pool! Pool water takes my breath away when I first get in it.Hope the temp at the Sowal beaches is warmer.

Yeah- he lives out there. There are a lot of "Hamptons" people. We went to a party thrown by Jason Binn- he's the publisher of Niche Media (Hamptons, LA Confidential and Gotham Mags). Kelsey and Camille Grammer were the cover for the month so they were there. Jocelyn Wildenstein (cat lady) was there. James Lipton, Russell Simmons- a lot of media people, so it was a good networking event for me.

It was just weird sitting on a NY beach when literally a week ago today we were in Grayton on the beach!
