Big Weekend Plans?

New posts
Since you are so far north of Houston, I am sure you wished you had some of that rain. It got cloudy and windy here around an hour or so ago like it could blow up a rain but didn't. Poor Houston sure has gotten socked with over 10 inches of rain. I think we will get something later tonight, tomorrow and Tuesday for sure, according to the percentages. The thing with the lemonade pies though, you can freeze them until you do have company and then bring them out! I took three pieces of that pie to my son's so there wouldn't be all that around here to tempt me. We have two pieces left and that is enough. All that food sounds good!

Now that we have moved on to the subject of food, peach time has arrived and we are getting yummy ones here! Just finished eating a bowl of delicious juicy peaches....

Don't we always get around to the topic of food?? I love, love, love fresh peaches! Bought some last week, but think maybe they're not quite to peak here. Usually in June, July they are the best! Hmmmmm......peach cobbler!

 Well, the food subject was kind of appropriate in this thread as most people do have cookouts on holidays. And of course, desserts are part of it. I love white peaches. They should be available here pretty soon at Jones Orchard. Will have to check them out soon to see what is available.

Ok...I've got to get off this thread...Seems all I've talked about tonite is food! And 30ASkunkape says I need to lay off the sugar and practice PORTION CONTROL!

Soooooooooo......had any good salads lately?

I haven't typed up the chicken taco recipe yet. My daughter wrote it out on a deposit slip while we were waiting for our food at Houston's.
Okay, I did the chicken tacos. Awesome. Check out the recipe on the "favorite recipes" thread.

I'm making your Black Beans and Rice tonight since I have a bunch of cilantro that needs to be used. I'm thinking that would make a good beach recipe, too, since it requires relatively few ingredients, flies together easily, and makes enough for left-overs. I'm a big fan of "make it once; eat it twice." We love left-overs in our house.

I just got back from spending the weekend in the Hamptons. We had a funn time, don't get me wrong, but I prefer Crab Island on a 'toon boat to lounging at the Southampton Beach Club. I'd rather run into DJ Vladi than Russell Simmons as well. And the water- forget it! It was freeeezzzzinnnggg! As expected. Don't get me wrong, it was nice. Real nice, and I made a good job contact, but Memorial Day isn't Memorial Day without Bud Lite in new koozies and being surrounded by rednecks.

I  you Kimmi.

You should have seen the mad scene at Crab Island.
