Black Tie Optional--help

I am a jeans and t-shirt sort of gal, but the holiday party looms ahead.
December 9, in Jacksonville.
All my fancy-pants clothing is in storage in Panama City. Husband has nice work clothes here, but nothing too formal.
We are going to try to get a couple things out of storage, but it isn't the kind of situation where you just knock on the door and find your stuff.
We might have to just go shopping.
Do you think we could find a few nice things at Dillard's? Or should we maybe travel further west towards SoWal?
Or maybe I could order something online--but what if it doesn't fit? Argh.
Any suggestions?

heh
Yeah. Heaven knows I have enough little black dresses of varying lengths, materials and design, what's one more?
I am not sure where to go but this is one shopping trip which I would not have to talk the spouse into; he is as motivated as I am.
If anyone has a place to recommend, please do.

You know who has really cute, reasonably priced holiday stuff is Banana Republic. I usually go there every season and get something nice and black for the holidays. Try there. Off Fifth? Nah...that's too picked over. I would try Banana. They roll stuff over to sale pretty quick too.

Let us know how it goes!

Or pop by Venus and ask Lucy to help you out!

I agree with Kimmi..Venus has great party dresses, etc. You may also want to check out Today's Fashions in Destin.

I like separates. My holiday attire will be a new black velvet jacket (velvet is so "in" this year) and an old, dressy pair of black pants. Then I can wear the velvet jacket with jeans for more casual holiday parties, so I get a lot of use out of it. Or wear the black pants with a simple black tank, high heels, and chandelier earrings. Lots of options.

People have gotten really casual in our town. You don't see women in sequined dresses unless it's a charity event or something on that order.

But please, none of those cutesy Christmas-themed sweaters - they're SO 80's.

I am not certain if a new black velvet jacket qualifies as being "casual." I just cannot see it matching my Birks, which are casual. It is okay to dress on occasion, it can be rather fun, but let's not call it casual. If you are going to dress, dress big!

Guess I'll be packing up my Rudolph sweater with the sequined nose and flashing string of Christmas lights strung through his antlers!

Oh well, it was getting hard to find those tiny batteries.
