Blood Libel

New posts
You guys actually listened to her latest remarks? Something must be working because if you guys are listening, she is getting an audience. I could care less about what she says so don't choose to listen to her and have no idea what you are talking about.

same here. watching/listening to Palin is like following Paris Hilton, imo. hard to tune her out when she is totally so outrageous, but I manage to do so.

She just wants attention, and I think (like a bratty child) the best tactic is to not give it to her.

President Obama is our leader and did a great job addressing this tragedy and we need to follow his example.

Palin made a video and is either too dumb to know what she said or too insensitive to care about anything but the resulting press attention.

Log that video as reason 5,937 why she would be a terrible President, let her keep destroying her chances, and focus on actual news.

Usually I agree that ignoring is appropriate...and I certainly think the media need to ignore her more often than they do. I did not listen to her either, but it is hard to ignore the coverage of it...I am reminded of this admonition though:
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. "
Edmund Burke
and, before someone here accuses me of calling her "evil" I am not doing that and I do not hold her responsible for what this person in Tucson chose to do...however, I do hold her responsible for irresponsible comments and behavior...and she has done it once again. IMO there was no reason to use the term she did, unless she wanted to provoke.

I wish it was easy to tune her out - but anyone who follows the news and current events gets an earful about her. She's the political Snookie.

The other night I was bored channel surfing and decided to watch the news in Spanish on Univision. The second story was about Palin and her dumb comment about blood libel - including that dumb map - which looks more and more like someone shot up a map of the US every time I see it.

Not sure why anyone feels the need to defend themselves at not being able to turn their head to the occasional train wreck, and hoping it's it's last ride and no one was hurt.

Regrettably, you can't completely ignore the news the woman generates. Especially when its so unbelievable - you just sit there transfixed - with feelings of disbelief and hopelessness. So, I can't watch. I can hear some short blurbs on the radio or read these threads but I simply cannot watch any extensive coverage on someone so negative or narcissistic. I feel the same about any other hate speaking people who believe themselves to be truthful or honorable - they are anything but. I find their words, actions and beings to be destructive and unnecessary. Frankly, I wouldn't welcome such course people into my home (near my child or myself) so I don't let them come in on HD TV either. Crap control!

Commentary: The lesson Christina Taylor Green's life left us | McClatchy
Media empires have been built and political careers advanced upon a kind of violent, proudly extremist rhetoric that has less to do with elucidating philosophical differences than with demonizing them, stoking division through hatred and fear of the other, whether the other be Mexican, Muslim, gay or a dreaded liberal. There is, we have been repeatedly told, a difference between people like that and ``real'' Americans.

Something to keep in mind as we mourn the dead, among them a 9-year-old girl who aspired to help the less fortunate. On the day she was born, we remembered something important about ourselves.

It was long forgotten by the day she died.

Pitts is one of my favorite columnists...he is usually right to the point. One of the most inflamatory labels to me is that if we do not agree with someone, then we are not a "real" American. What right does anyone have to decide who is or is not a "real" American?

I totally agree.

I just can't watch anymore and that's just for my own sanity. I need ya'll to keep your eye out though.

:lolabove: flashes to mind a variation on the line from A Christmas Story:
"SHE'LL Shoot Her Eye Out"

Miss Critter: I think you forgot to mention that she's a narci-idjit
