Budget Cuts for NWF State College?

Does it concern anyone out there the amount of money NWF State got during a lean budget year. Services/ funding was cut for some of the neediest people in the State. I have attended NWF College and it is fine school. As has been posted in various forums reference, tax cuts, here we give $24 million to the school, according to the online edition of the NWF Daily News. I don't know maybe 19 Parks could have been saved, maybe a large group of folks needing in home health assistance could not have seen a decrease in service. Maybe we could have saved the amount for reserves for a rainy day. Just a few thoughts.
Maybe we're not really in a financial crisis and its all a propaganda message and it's all starting to unravel.:idontno:

The way they set things up in Tallahassee is that capital expenditures (buildings) are a different pot than recurring funding (payroll, utilities, etc) And the legislature is reluctant to cut into the construction budget pool'o'cash because it serves the purpose of fiscal stimulus for the state, especially during a time when construction companies are otherwise struggling.

If it didn't go to NWFSC, it would have gone to another college/university project somewhere else in the state. Might as well have something positive locally come out of that pot.

As for non-capital funding, NWFSC is getting a decrease in that just like every other college in the state.

Although buildings and roads are a good thing, we still have people with needs. When you take a look at folks who are having to cut back or people who are having their pay reduced because of the current economic issues, I am not sure they will see it as a stimulis. Even President Elect Obama is pushing for the same type of stimulis/ infrastructure spending. Sometimes the pork is difficult to swallow, and unlike last year I suppose, House Speaker Sansom said their won't be any local earmarks for anyone this session. I think maybe he should not have taken his current position with NWF State because the appearence sure make it appear quid pro quo.
