Census in Walton County

New posts
I would rather fill out the form on my own and not have to have someone come into my home to ask me the ten questions. Can't believe the government can't figure out who is a permanent resident that lives south of the Bay, don't they have records? If they can't do this and then are willing to pay someone 21 dollars an hour to come to my house to ask questions...how do they plan to run health care and other government take overs. I am going to the library and see if I can't pick up a copy to fill out.

I understand that sowal is being done as door to door because of a perceived huge undercount last time.

We still have not seen or heard from anyone, and no notice at the house. Our house is visible from 30-A, not considered hidden, and was built many, many years ago...

Come Home and Be Counted

There's only about 6 days left for people to mail their census forms back in before visitation begins. Since SoWal is already under a door to door survey, don't know how long you have to be counted. But, come back home if you are out on vacation or whatever. Beaches are great and it won't be super crowded for the next few weeks. The clock is ticking. Here's some contact information from first post on this thread by Astara.

If anyone believes they have a valid concern about not being counted please call the local census office in Pensacola at 850-288-7330. If you need to go further up the chain, the Pensacola office is overseen by the regional office in Atlanta. Those numbers are (404) 730-3832 or 1-800-424-6974. Walton county has grown tremendously in the past ten years and if we don't speak up we very well may be missed.

Census guy came to our house off Chat Holly yesterday. It'd didn't take five minutes to complete the form on our front porch. Totally painless.

Census Guy came by our house about a week and a half ago. Very nice older gentelman. He even came back to ask questions about the vacant house next us us a few days later. Did anyone read the story in the Beachcomber about the census taker? Supposedly a true story that happened in Pensacola. Here's a shortened/paraphrased version: Seems a mom was at work & got a call from her son. The son told his mom "there is a troll in our house". She told him she was busy & went back to work. The son called again - very concerned about the troll that was in the house. The mom begged off work & went home to check-out the situation. Upon arriving at the home she was met by the son who announced "the troll's in there (pointing to a bedroom door with a chair propped against the doorknob)". The perplexed mother removed the chair, opened the door and was met by a distressed census taker who was a person of small stature. Hence the son mistook the person for a "troll". ;-)

Why was a child so young they 1) let a complete stranger in the house 2) thought a troll was a real thing LEFT HOME ALONE? :idontno:
