Charcoal grill question

Has anyone found a grill that doesn't rust away in the salt air? I love Weber Kettles, but they become swiss cheese quickly..

Big green egg or knockoff.

The BGE has porcelain coated steel bands. The Kamado Joe has powder coated cast iron bands.

Below are some comments regarding rust:

Rust
Big Green Egg: Possibly on the daisy wheel and hinge mechanism, nuts and bolts after many years of service. Try to keep your daisy wheel inside while storing it and this will reduce your chances of rusting. Ultimately, there isn’t much that can cause any serious rusting on the BGE.

Kamado Joe: It’s rare, but the nuts and bolts have been known to rust. But again, like the BGE, very little could go wrong with the Kamado Joe.

Hey Bob, long time no see. I bought a BGE in 2008. It has never been further than a mile from the beach, and all I have had go wrong was an acorn nut that secures the handle got corroded. Otherwise, as good as day one.

They have a great looking knock off at sam's club for about $500.

True to the above. BGE is not cheap, but I probably would have been through a few gas and charcoal grills by now. And the product was unique at the time. I would buy a BGE or knockoff if the intention is to do a lot of smoking. If grilling is all you are looking to do, I would just buy Webers again and again (I have one of those, too, and it has survived for two years now. But last week I found out the vent on the bottom has rusted to an open position).

Just put the grill in the garage when you're done.
