Charcoal grill question

Just put the grill in the garage when you're done.
Although I appreciate the advice that you are providing, but, and I am not calling anyone stupid, but make sure you empty the coals out in a safe manner before putting it in the garage. I have witnessed folks who have dumped ashes in plastic garbage cans that didn't bode so well. I would also suggest disconnecting LP tank from gas gril, before storing in an enclosed space.

I have a stainless steel grill that's been sitting idle outside literally for 9 years and it hasn't rusted in the least. I don't live right on the water though. I do know that other things I have will rust, but not this grill.

I've been looking at a grill in Home Depot, for 9-1/2 years, and have not seen any signs of rust on it either. Weird.

Stainless needs to be grade 304 and not the 430 that is used to build all but the most expensive grills. Older stainless grills are a better choice for the beach. They were more likely to be made from 304.

To check a grill for 304 stainless, bring along a magnet. The magnet will not draw to a 304 panel, but will stick to 430 stainless.

You would also prefer the burners be the 304 stainless. I have had the burners fail way before the outer structure

Mine's a Masterbuilt. I used a really strong magnet, the kind that can cause flesh wounds. It won't stick to most of the grill, except for the lid. Still, the lid is not rusted at all. It doesn't stick really strongly to the lid.like it does to my refrigerator. That's OK because I don't ever plan on sticking notes to the side of my grill, that would be a fire hazard, but I digress. The burners must be 430 because the magnet has a strong grip and the pipe is rusted pretty badly.

Hey Bob, long time no see. I bought a BGE in 2008. It has never been further than a mile from the beach, and all I have had go wrong was an acorn nut that secures the handle got corroded. Otherwise, as good as day one.
sweet!!
