Driving through Seaside a few minutes ago, the big US flag at the post office was at half mast. A fitting tribute.

What a great business and family man. A real role model. He'll be missed.

That is a nice thought. But it makes me smile to think that the market will be there to serve many more generations, providing comfort (and shade). And as you sit out front under the awning, Mr. and Mrs. Modica will always be there smiling down at you. Figuratively, and literally from their oval photo.

That's about as good a legacy as any of us could hope to have.

I hope I get to stay a part of what is special about the Market. I owe the Modicas a lot for what they have done for me in the past. I hope I can honor his memory and remain a part of the team.
