Church on the Beach

Are there any church services on the beach in the Seagrove area these days? Several years ago we attended one near the public beach access by One Seagrove...The last few years we've attended church services at Seaside Chapel, but understand that the congregation has been evicted. We always enjoy attending a worship service in the area when we are on vacation...and if it's on the beach it's as close to "heaven on earth" as it gets!

Don't know about beach services, but there's always the little Methodist church in Pt. Washington or, if you're willing to go as far as Carillon Beach, there's a beautiful little non-denominational chapel there.

They are truly great for visitors, simple service led by Harry and Mary Houseman--Harry is an old Air Force chaplain, and he gives a terrific message every week! And best of all, though it's not on the beach, the chapel has floor to ceiling windows behind the pulpit looking out onto Lake Carillon.

Harry likes to tell us that every wink of sunlight on each little wave is an extra blessing from God. Beautiful thought, as there are so many gorgeous little winks of sunlight...

Good luck in your search! Hope this helps!

There is a church service on the beach at Ed Walline, at 8 a.m. Take a beach chair, and be on time, because it's a short service, usually only about 35 minutes. It's the Lutherans who meet up the street, and their regular inside service starts at 9, so they start and end on time.

The congregation from Seaside moved to the church on 393. Can't remember the name off the top of my head, but someone might post it.

On any given day, Sundays included, just a walk on the beach brings to heart and mind thoughts of God's wonders, His gifts to us to enjoy and be humbled by, and a thru-and-thru sense of peace and tranquility. I know God appreciates those who "get it" and, still He gladly offers heaps of love, hope, and patience to those who don't. I always tell my kids/wife that I'm sure that God is heard most often as that "little voice" many call a conscience and, for me, the best place to find Him is during a nice walk on the beach, where my innermost thoughts come to the forefront, my senses become enlivened, and my ability to see truth, find joy, and find the best path to follow the easiest.

Welcome to Paradise; I hope that you enjoy yourselves immensely!

Thanks to all...love this forum for all the helpful insight! Couldn't find anything about service times for Carrillon Beach church...We will see what works w/4 families and 3 children under the age of 5...I remember seeing the Ed Walline service last year, but 8:00 am is a bit early for the day after travel...12 hours from St. Louis! Love you all!

Whoops! Sorry, service at Carillon is at 10:00 am. They just do the one every week.

When the weather is nice they'll open the french doors along the sides of the chapel, so it's very relaxing. Harry likes to keep his sermons short and sweet--45 minutes, an hour at most--but if he's got enough kids he'll usually take a few minutes to do a little "Childrens Church" message. Always sweet, and fun for the kiddies.
