According to a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey, a majority also don't think the GOP has cooperated enough with President Barack Obama and, for the first time since they won back control of the House last November, the number of Americans who say that Republican control of the chamber is good for the country has dropped below the 50 percent mark.

The poll indicates that 58 percent of the public opposes the Republican plan on Medicare, with 35 percent saying they support the proposal. The survey's Wednesday release comes as the president met with House Republicans to discuss, among other things, Medicare reform.

People are beginning to wake up...

It is sooooooo inspiring when people attack someone who has guts enough to to make a proposal but lack the guts to put one on the table themselves. I guess the Democrats will attempt to save Medicare when the country finally goes bankrupt because they refused to act when it would matter.

We are facing a difficult time when a majority of folks demand more from "entitlements" than they paid in (Medicare in particular). Simply not sustainable. While pandering to the demands of that majority wins media approval and sadly many elections, it endangers our long term freedoms. The joyous chorus of those belittling the idea that we need to dramatically reduce our costs has been a very sad testament about our future. I'm pretty sure those who hold our debt will make it a very high priority to provide 20+ years of paid retirement and health care to all who have "earned it".

Everyone wants budget cuts and zero deficits but only as long as their pet programs are not cut. In fact, they want those programs enhanced. We are all guilty.

I pray for those who depend on the gov't to live, pension recipients included. Tough times ahead because of irresponsible spending. I've told everyone on this forum two years ago things were about to get much worse. Still waiting on those 200,000 jobs/month as promised two years ago. Job creation, innovation and productivity are the only things that can get us moving in the right direction. Tax increases will further stifle us.

The private sector has added over 200,000 new jobs for each of the last three months.
