Conan's Emmy opening

New posts
:( Yeah, this was kind of a big "oops"- apparently a lot of the local affiliates would have liked the opportunity to skip this opening, since the Comair plane had crashed and 49 people died Sunday morning in Lexington. The Lexington affiliate was especially horrified that they showed it. It's been a pretty grim week around here.

I forgot to watch but I assume the faux plane crash was aired here, too. As Jenny said, the real plane crash that claimed 49 lives in Lexington Kentucky has made for a sad week here in the Midwest.

Although I am mystified why that opening would be funny to anyone at all given that the five year anniversary of the worst plane crashes in the US is coming up in only days?

Totally true. It wasn't funny at all.

We are flying back from SoWal that day. I didn't really think about it until the Comair crash, and now the news keeps talking about how safe air travel has been since 9/11 and the crash just after. We are flying Delta, so I'm sure there is a Comair flight thrown in there somewhere.

BTW- I hate to fly- it is a necessary evil for me. Our flight from Louisville leaves BEFORE the crack of dawn, and I don't think the airport bars are open yet.

So many sad stories associated with that flight. I am avoiding all the photos on the front page of the papers. Heart breaking stuff.

I didn't see the Emmy's that night, but if I had that would have been difficult. I do see the humor in the skit, even though it's terrible timing.

That plane that crashed was exactly what I use to work on as a flight attendant.............I was so sad to hear of this , I feel for those families.
