Contract from America

Read the article. It's not about Keynesian economics or government spending, it's about price-fixing and wage-fixing.

"Recovery came only after the Department of Justice dramatically stepped enforcement of antitrust cases nearly four-fold and organized labor suffered a string of setbacks, the economists found."

I think everyone agrees that government attempting to set wages and prices was a failure. It was stopped by a Supreme Court decision.

Read the article twice. My reply was regarding Ugabuga's post which I may have misunderstood. I took his post to mean he believes the way out was FDR's way - spend, spend, spend - which has been proven a failure. Krugman believes in the Keynesian policies.

The Contract has good ideas but is, of course, incomplete. Expecting perfection from a new 'party'' when the parties we have now are still working on getting it right is unrealistic.
