Cooking on the beach?

Beach Fanatic
We are exploring ideas for the food and wine pairing with a chef who cooks for us sometimes here at home, with the idea of taking Chef Jeffrey and a pal of his with us in October. He has asked whether we could have a clambake-style oyster and fish BBQ down on the beach. I know we can do bonfires, with a permit, but don't know if that extends to cooking or eating on the beach.

Here's what he had in mind for the beach BBQ alternative:

BBQ'd Apalachicola Oysters with BBQ Sauce and Asiago Cheese
Grilled Shrimp Kabobs
Steamed Clams with Clam Broth and Butter Sauce

Fresh Melon Slices wrapped with Proscuitto
Grilled Figs stuffed with Mascarpone Cheese
Grilled Vidalia Onions
Salad of Heirloom Tomatoes with Basil and Buffalo Mozarella
Fresh Corn Salad with Purple Onions and Watermelon

Whole Grouper stuffed with Crabmeat, BBQ'd on a bed of fresh limes
Grilled Cobia with Garlic Butter and Shrimp Sauces on the side

Bonfire S'mores with Valrona Chocolate, Homemade Marshmallows & Grahams
Meyer's Rum-infused Watermelon Slices
Grilled Peach Halves with Home-cranked Chilton County Peach Ice Cream

Cowboy Coffee with Tia Maria Shots

Any feedback about the :nono1: or :banned: associated with this idea would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for feedback as to whether we can do this on the beach or not. :idontno:

Donna, anything you've ever suggested for the event has always sounded mouthwateringly wonderful, and this proposed menu is no exception! I had no idea the guest list had grown, but I have to say I'm not the least bit surprised! I've been approached by several Sowallers--who shall remain unnamed here--about being my date!

:clap_1: I don't like it, I love it!!! I can't answer, but if you can have a bonfire, why not a delicious meal???? We can protest county hall!!!

Maybe we should invite our local rep and my brother, for protection from the County. My husband was concerned about having that much paper and cooking stuff down on the beaches, but we can all assist with cleanup. I am going to pursue this with the County. If it gets too cumbersome, maybe we can have wine and hors d'ouvres on the beach, trundle back to Conch Out for the main event, then do the s'mores, peaches & ice cream, and cofee with Tia Maria back down at a bonfire. I know we can't have wine glasses on the beach and Jeffrey was horrified that we would serve really good wine in anything but glass. He might need beach orientation!

Holding my breath that he will do this gig for us. The first good sign was all the local ingredients that you see in that latest menu (his, not mine, but for the grouper on limes).

I lack eet.

We've had some huge birthday parties and mother's and father's day parties with mucho food and drink on the beach. There will be no problem with what you are proposing.

:lolabove: ...I lack eet too Miss Donna!!! With this group, cleanup will not be a problem!!!
