COVID19: Opinion and Discussion

I never understood why he was so against science, masks, social distancing guidelines or why he kept trying to push weird treatments. Or why he pulled out of WHO in the midst of a worldwide pandemic. Or why they refused to protect themselves or staff in the White House and they all fell sick eventually. Even his own hospital event caused doubling down on antiscience behavior. His behavior and chaos from his administration contributed to hundreds of thousands of deaths. Harm to our nation due to the worst response in the world. This caused his election loss imo. Where were his advisors?
What a difference.

Inside Biden's COVID response team, constant texting and nightly presidential reports

WASHINGTON -- Dr. Anthony Fauci learned quickly that being on President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 response team meant constant texts, Saturday meetings, and an “all-hands-on-deck” approach to the coronavirus pandemic.

The team has settled into a daily routine overflowing with highly punctual meetings, technical briefings and strategy sessions, interspersed by a continuous stream of texting, calls and ad hoc gatherings.

That is a result of the management style of Jeff Zients, coordinator of the White House COVID-19 response. Fauci, the president’s chief medical adviser, refers to him as the team’s “coach” or “conductor.”

“He really understands in depth everything that’s going on,” Fauci said. “He’s not a scientist, but he understands enough of the science that you can have a very meaningful discussion with him about the kinds of recommendations and policies that we talk about all the time.”

Just as a suggestion to maintain some perspective on what is effectively a soft science as dogma-View attachment 88999

Im not advocating an anti mask policy because there’s no down side that I see. Just suggesting that one not unquestioningly adhere to what is guesswork. Much like the ““Theory” of Evolution” debate we all had here long ago, some were seeing it as settled science while it literally has the word “Theory” as its name. It isn’t “Fact” of Evolution. In medicine a broken arm is a broken arm and it is easy to say what the issue is. While a diagnosis is a diagnosis until a better descriptor fitting symptoms comes along and one then has a new diagnosis. Call it an educated guess until a better guess appears. Much of our early and remaining response to covid was and is guesses. That said one has to try something.. Happy Friday
I absolutely agree. However, the danger is in our emotional behaviors. Emotion can shut down reason and common sense. Emotion can be like an overactive immune system. For example, we need fear to be aware of danger but too much fear and it becomes destructive. We humans need "good" leadership to help maintain calm and reason in a crisis. Wearing a mask has common sense, social responsibility and medical science to support a mandate. Are we still on the same page? I saw the video of the woman screaming to school officials to take off her child's mask. We have to ask ourselves what is the honest truth in how a mask mandate caused so much vitriolic response on both sides. I am a retired health care professional and I understand side effects of drugs meant to cure or reduce illness but for the life of me what was the side effect of wearing a mask for those first 3-4 months if you take out this political divide we have gotten ourselves in? I also think politics and leadership played a role in the early information that we were getting because it was an election year. My humble opinion is that each one of us need to filter out the politics especially when we have poor political leadership and make the necessary sacrifices for common sense, social responsibility and medical science. Since we can't agree on good political leadership we have but one choice and that is to filter out ALL politics when responding to a global pandemic (and many other social and economic inequities) and focus on the greater good which is simple common sense...

We need qualified "project managers" to go with science and engineering! I talk to people every day that hate everything that Biden is doing to provide us with good leadership during a crisis. Why do people reject good leadership?

"very meaningful discussions" : I knew the Democrats would resort to trickery!

“People who are fully vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus don’t need to wear face masks when walking, hiking, biking, running alone” -CDC
Some of today’s ”Science” in action! It doesn’t debunk everything but it is nonsense like this that causes many to not take anything they say seriously. Scare the poop out of the impressionable who can’t think logically and rationally on the one side about getting sick and encourages the other side that thinks it’s a power grab.

Immaculate Infection.

I need a National platform to go public with that phrase. Anyone have one I can borrow?

Respectfully, with all the nuckfuttery coming from the right on the evils of mask wearing and the vaccine being the mark of the beast CDC guidelines are the least of my concerns.

Isn’t the real danger the parent who refuses to vaccinate their children?
