My decision is not based on politics, but on my gut that says (a) you’re not a sheeple, and (b) the “authorities “ don’t have concensus on the data nor their confidence in their respective positions on what the outcomes “might” be....I’ll wait.
Then I guess the man you believe is still president is a "sheeple".

Twelve states have now reached the Biden administration’s goal to vaccinate 70% of adults with at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine by July 4, according to data published Tuesday by the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

They are California, Maryland, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Surprising no one Florida is not listed as meeting that goal.
The CDC reported that Florida had the most new cases in the past 7 days, with 17,581. That’s about 4,000 fewer than the previous week.
Florida also recorded the most COVID-19 deaths over the past 7 days with 368, an increase of about 20 from the previous week.

I wanted to let you know, I used your story as a kind of fable to some anti-vaxer conspiracy theorist. I think I got through to him and got him thinking. Mputnal is right, some of these folks can be reasoned with. They are just exposed to bad ideas 24/7.

Yes, I know some very smart people and very good people who have gotten caught up in a political black hole. Many will never escape this black hole for whatever the mysteries of human nature and the universe are but some are on the edge and have not fallen in to it's dark forces. Those on the edge are significant in number and we just need to communicate effectively. I am learning how to be successful and sounds like you have had some success. It may be a waste of time but it may not so I believe hope is in the latter. Everyone is different but yet we are all human beings. My grandma was right "treat others like you want to be treated". I am learning that it helps to control emotion in order to reason with unreasonable people. Controlling emotion is the single most important thing in listening to someone who I disagree with and know their facts are wrong. If I am able to listen then I find it much easier to be kind and respectful. I miss my grandma's wisdom who was very conservative but I know that she would not hesitate to get the vaccine. She helped me understand how to be conservative and open minded at the same time. I believe that most of her wisdom was just plain old human nature based on common sense...

The people I talk to that refuse to get the vaccine are of all walks of life. Some are health professionals (mostly retired) like nurses and doctors. Many are religious. Many more have become indoctrinated with fears created by political extremism. The general rule in those who refuse to see the good in the vaccine are that they all fear liberalism, socialism, multiculturalism and atheism. They believe that science has been corrupted by liberal elites who benefit monetarily. They are sick and tired of being shamed for supporting you know who and desperate to prove the dems are bad to the bone. They believe their culture and religion is being spit on by these liberal elites like Bill Gates who we now know has had much contact with Dr. Fauci. Now that there is a valid concern that the virus may have spread from the lab they are questioning everything. I think it is okay to question authority whether it be politics or science. Dr. Fauci for example has said a few things that were not exactly clear. Yes, I agree that everyone should get the vaccine but we are divided as a country over politics and it has made it very difficult for people to control their fears. Politics will always take advantage of fear but I think we can control that fear with good and respectful conversations.

Friday June 4 2021

New daily COVID-19 infections have declined dramatically in the United States, recently hitting their lowest numbers since March of 2020. That drop largely has been credited to the nationwide vaccine rollout.
***
As of June 4, more than half of adults in the U.S. were fully vaccinated; 63 percent had received at least one dose. President Joe Biden announced a goal to have 70 percent of all adults nationwide at least partially vaccinated by the July 4th holiday.

Vaccine hesitancy, misinformation and lack of access all contribute to the outstanding number of Americans who have not yet gotten vaccinated, or don’t plan to. When the CDC announced last month that fully vaccinated people can safely go maskless in most public spaces, some medical professionals and commentators worried cases would rise. That has not been the case. There is evidence that the change in guidance has increased interest among Americans in getting vaccinated.

What is the real reason behind America's slowing vaccine rate? Happy2BMe and many others that I talk to have told me that they do not believe in government authority telling us what is best for us. As a nation we are only around 42% fully vaccinated and the vaccination rate is decreasing significantly. Why is that? So there is two opposite political narratives on the answer. The liberal/democrat answer is because people are stupid and politically incorrect. They go even further by attacking the cultures that produces such incompetence and moral corruption. Then there is the conservative/republican answer that distrusts authority whether it be government or science. There is some truth to the inconsistencies of direction from our Federal government. There is most certainly a lack of long term data on this novel virus. So my point is that neither side of this political divide is absolutely correct about anything 100% of the time! As a Nation, as a society and as individuals we have ALL gotten caught up in the politics. Stop it. Use common sense. It is as simple as this. Science is not perfect but all of us are living longer and better because of it. There is no good reason to stop believing in science! If both sides would filter out the politics we will trust more, we will laugh more and together we will make this world a better place to live. It is okay to question authority. If we don't it always leads to totalitarian authority regimes that will determine what is best for us as a Nation, as a society and as an individual. NONE of us want that...

I stated this in another thread but I think we all have lost perspective in terms of truth and humanity. I watched an interview between Jordan Peterson and Yeonmi Park. It is titled "tyranny, slavery and Columbia U". I suggest we all reevaluate our perspective after watching this interview. Watch it and let me know what you think.
