Crash ...how good?

New posts
it's a bummer that the situations depicted in crash are so real. i was sitting in rendez-vouz on sat am after checking on the concert cleanup, and in walk these two men. one was wearing so much cologne i thought it was a woman. anyway, he was at the coffee store because his house was being cleaned, and he left because he didn't like to interact with the domestics. he said this outloud, and then asked if it sounded rude, to which i replied yes, quite. what an idiot.

We loved the movie. Have you seen the movie "House of Sand and Fog?" It's somewhat like that in the way people's lives are interwoven and actions and feelings lead to senseless tragedy. This movie stays with you for a long time after. My teens--17 and 19 years old--were as taken with it as their parents.

So you would recommend "House of Sand and Fog?" I have thought about renting this movie at different times, but I do have to be in a certain mood to watch movies that make me do some soul-searching.

Really good movie. It was one of those movies that you thought about for days. As peapod said, it was a bit uncomfortable to watch. You may think you are not prejudice, but there are all kinds of prejudices. Very thought provoking for me.
So true, dbuck. I found that it totally makes you examine yourself and where you fit in within the concept of prejudice. I saw it with a group of friends, and we had purposely arranged to go out afterwards to discuss it. I was surprised--the conversation was very impassioned and even heated at times. What was also interesting is that one of the women is a Caucasian mom of two girls who recently adopted an African-American boy, and her take on the movie and the issues it raises was so eye-opening.

Oh yes. It's an exquisite movie. It's tragic beyond the point of making you cry--it's really beyond tears--so save it for a night when you can take that kind of intensity. It's a movie that will make you angry because of all the misplaced pride, the loss of hope, and unyielding personalities that the characters display, which ultimately leads to their downfalls.
