Gov. Crist calls for special session​

Constitutional amendment would ban oil drilling in state waters

​

TALLAHASSEE - Gov. Charlie Crist called today (((TUESDAY))) for a special session on a constitutional amendment to be placed on this fall's ballot that would forever ban oil drilling in state waters.

The session also may include attempts to establish a new, forward-thinking energy policy for the state of Florida.

"I fully support Florida's call to action to establish a constitutional ban on oil drilling in state waters," said House District 7 candidate David Pleat. "Now is the time for Florida to lead the nation in establishing a state energy policy that will direct us to clean, renewable energy sources and break our dependence on fossil fuels."

Havent quite figured out the need for a special session on a ban since there is already one on the books. They just need to make sure the current one doesnt end. But if the session puts something on the books for other sources I am all for it.
