Dallas Texas Ebola Case

New posts
I just checked the Fox News website and they haven't panicked like this since a black man won the Presidency.

Yeah, I trust the government. It just keeps getting better.

DALLAS, Oct 15 (Reuters) - A second Texas nurse who tested positive for Ebola after caring for a patient with the virus had traveled by jetliner a day before she reported symptoms, U.S. and airline officials said on Wednesday.
The worker at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas had taken a Frontier Airlines flight from Cleveland, Ohio to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on Monday, the officials said.
The woman, identified to Reuters by her grandmother as Amber Vinson, 29, was isolated immediately after reporting a fever on Tuesday, Texas Department of State Health Services officials said. She had treated Liberian patient Thomas Eric Duncan, who died of Ebola and was the first patient diagnosed with the virus in the United States.
The circumstances under which Vinson traveled were not immediately known. But the latest revelation raised fresh questions about the handling of Duncan's case and its aftermath by both the hospital and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

the word on the street is that this is due to improper procedures at this particular hospital.
I'll wait untill more develops, but it sounds like gross negligence. I wouldn't be surprised if the two nurses have good grounds for a lawsuit. It's also likely that proper protocols are not in place at other hospitals across the country.

Don't forget there was the time they found out Santa was black. Just wait till Jesus returns. Then again, maybe he already has and he lives at 1600 Pensylvania Avenue.

No doubt. but then they go home to their neighborhoods... 76 possible contacts per each initial contact...do the math... how many "medical detectives" are on the case? in Dallas? Boston? Atlanta? St Louis?... too many people looking at computer models, and not enough people explaining the correct way to take off gloves.

I think those are terrible procedural mistakes, but if these workers did in fact infect others, then it is an indirect result of being exposed to said s$h!tst0rm. I think it is unlikely that the infective agents would have come from their own bodily fluids. This imagined scenario is hardly casual contact as ottomatik implied. Another way of putting it is, I think there is less risk in shaking hands with an asymptomatic ebola patient than caring for a highly symptomatic one while wearing a hazmat suit. Strict and proper procedure changes the healtcare workers' odds for the better. Even in the event of best practices, these workers should should not be allowed to use public transportation until it is determined that they are asymptomatic. This is just my opinion.
