My daughter was on the MIT Beaver basketball team but had to drop off due to a back injury suffered at a hellacious practice. DAM BEAVERS! BTW the MIT mascot is the Beavers.

But speaking of actual beavers, our house in GA overlooks a lake. The beavers are a big problem, doing a lot of damage to the landscaping. We have friends on the lake who have no qualms about shooting beavers. No jokes, please.

Hmmm . . . wonder if we could teach them to build seawalls?

I know they could!

They totally confounded a group of civil engineers here when they had dammed up and major stream running to the Ohio River. It was like war- the beavers vs. the engineers. Unfortunately, they (my husband included) didn't learn beaver relocation tactics in school, then every agency (Wildlife, Humane Society, etc.) passed the problem on to the next unlucky suspect. So the beavers lived happily in the stream for quite awhile, while the humans scratched their heads. If I remember correctly, I think someone found ways to irritate them to the point that they got aggravated and moved themselves.

For awhile eveyone was sending beaver and dam pics (not the porno!!) around to tease the people involved in the stream project.
