It was a PERFECT week. Well, except for the fact that I had to room with TripleB, just kidding. I love him and his wonderful family.
Ok, here we go.
The Good: Wonderful friends. We got to the Villa's about an hour early. Jfunn was going to meet me there. Instead, as I am unpacking the van, she pulls up on her bike. She had seen the SoWal stickers on my van, and she saw my son and knew it was me. I knew who she was immediately. Can I just say I adore her. She made my trip very special. She gave this little Roll Tide "floozie" for my beer. It is the cutest thing. I think SJ might have a picture of it. If not, I will get one posted. We spent some time together Saturday night. It was awesome. After speaking to SJ on the phone Jfunn and I decided to do go to "church" Sunday. The Red Bar was great. Dread was great! I got to meet several Steelings. Gorgeous!!!! SJ, was elusive at first, then made his appearance by telling me the table jfunn and I were sitting at was "dining" only. Jfunn played right along with him. It took me a minute, but I finally realized it was him. I will go into details about him in the other thread. After church, we went to sunset where I met, Kurt, tootsie, spidey and Cork, jfunn's mom, and sunshine. On the way out to sunset, I got to meet Steeling1, Baulder, and Grayton kid. I was like a kid. It was so exciting. We just briefly shook hands and said hello but it was so nice. Again it was perfect. I loved, loved them all. Spidey is about the cutest thing ever, and sunshine is precious. Cork looked great! Kurt is as cute as they come, and tootsie...I loved her so much. She made me feel very, very welcome. She is so cute, cute, cute. I gave SJ, his first of 6 Guinesses at sunset. I told him if he wanted the rest he would have to come and fetch thim at the Villa's. He managed to come and get the last one, on the last night. Along with 2 surprise guests. Jdarg and Bdarg. Can I just say JEN-AY....I love you. She is everything and more guy's, so is Bdarg. It was a perfect evening at the Villa's, a beautiful starry night with new friends and old friends. Perfect for my last night ever there. So along with meeting some wonerful people and sharing time with old friends the week was perfect..I think already said that. We cooked at the Villa's every night except Thursday when TripleB, his family and me and my son went to Great Southern. It was pricey, but the food was excellent. I had the Apalachicola Fried Oysters, with friend green tomatoes as an appetizer, they were wonderful. TripleB had the seafood muffelata. It looked amazing, Mrs. TripleB had the Mahi Mahi. It was great. My son had the shrimp Po-boy, again excellent. The TripleB kids had the chicken fingers. Yummy. It was good.
The Bad: They have sold the Villa's. It breaks my heart. Some sort of the Nature Preserve/Walk will have a club house, beach access, perhaps some pools on the property. They told us if we made reservations for next year they could not promise the Villa's would still be there, and Resort Quest would put us someplace else. Well, we did not want to leave there without having something booked for next year. I suggest we all stay at Grayton in Conch Out. It didn't work out. But, I did get to talk to Donna on my home yesterday. She is so sweet, I can't wait to meet her. Anyway, two of my friends went walking on Friday morning and just happened upon Emerald Hills God love them. Right down the road a piece from the Villa's. We all went and looked at the property and fell in love. We all booked our trip for next year. We got 4 Condo's and an upstairs unit right beside each other. It doesn't have the same oldtime feel as the Villa's but at least we all liked the property and feel like it will work perfect for us. If anyone would like more details about Emerald Hills just shoot me a PM. We all felt better leaving there with arrangements made for next year.
The Ugly. Don't ever drink beer all day. Then switch to Crown and Coke, and try to lie down in a hammock!!! I does not work. I am so thankful SJ was not lurking somewhere with his camera when miss grace here, tried to do just that. The hammock was not kind to me. I ended up completely flipping the damn hammock and wearing the crown and coke from head to toe. Everyone got a good laugh at my expense!!! I do have a picture of me in the hammock though when I was sober (which wasn't often, I might add) and I will post when I get them download.
OH, OH, OH..we saw a Manatee swim about 10 feet out from shore. I was the coolest thing ever. I couldn't believe what we were seeing. It just leisurely swam down the beach. AWESOME. The dolphins were frolicking. No Sea Turtle sightings though.
Ok, now I am going to catch up on the other threads. Hopefully I will have another trip report in October!!!
Good to be home, sad to leave.
