Darn car

New posts
I think my car overestimates my ability to deduce mechanical problems when they arise. Ok car, your asking me to "Check Engine," well its still there. Your move.

Never "underestimate" a check engine light, keep an eye on your gauges.
It could be a glitch, sensor, or time for tune up, one never knows.
If you smell something hot......get out of the car and start running. lol

We go to AutoZone and they put a little machine on the car that will give you a readout with a code #. Then either they will look it up in a book or let you look it up to see what might be causing "check engine" light to come on. They do this for free here. I suppose it leads to some sales of supplies for them or just good pr. Anyway, as BobbyJ says, the gas cap is often the culprit.

I'd call a few places around and see if someone will check the code for you for free! :)

Tighten your gas cap - that's a common cause. Another is a bad oxygen sensor - and if that goes too long it can be a $$$$ repair bill.
