Anyone know anything about this M.C. Davis Trust that owns all the land north of the end of the bay? Looks like maybe just an investment company that wanted to corner the market in 2006. Maybe there's a story behind it though?

MC Davis Trust holds much land south of the Bay, too. He set aside about 53,000+/- acres in the Freeport area for a Preserve, to allow a continuous connection from Eglin to areas far east to the Apalachicola National Forest, for the Black Bear to roam. It is known as the Nokuse (no-GO-see) Plantation. They are in the process of opening a Biophilia Center on Hwy 20, a few miles east of 331. Land has already been cleared for it. The facility will be close to 15,000 sf feet, and will be a research and wildlife center. Nokuse has already been relocating Gopher Tortoises, which others bring.

I recall them having a website at one time, but I don't remember the address.

Ahh cool, so they have no intention of ever selling it for commercial / residential use?

The details get confusing. I think MC sold a conservation easement consisting of about 18,000 acres, to the State in 2006, and as I understand it, that will not be developed. He is a developer, and has already written a check to get sewer extended up CR 3280 for a development up that way(Bear Creek, I think is the name).
