Denver Marijuana law passes

Oooh, this reminds me of something! One summer ago, we found pot in our son's room (Merman was looking for a computer thingie in the boy's room, so we weren't snooping around ). We confronted him with it, gave him a lecture about it, and then I flushed the goods down the toilet. It was an instantaneous reaction on my part--flush flush!

So here I am watching the little swirling flakes go down the toilet and all of a sudden it dawned on me that never in all my years of parenthood had I felt like such a Mother! I'll leave it up to you what kind of mother I was. ;-)

Yes, but that was better than taking it for yourself!

When I was in school they used to show that stupid anti drug movie, I think it was called Refer Madness, it was sooo unrealistic even back then!

The city of Denver just passed a law making it legal for persons => 21 yrs of age to possess up to 1 oz of Pot. I believe Denver makes the 3rd such city to do so.

It's not as good as it sounds. State laws against reefer still in place and police will prosecute under the state laws regardless of the local laws.

I had my fun back in the day, but the strongest thing I do now is Chardonnay.
If state laws are applied, the Mile High city might not be all that high.

My question is:

If you can carry an ounce of pot, is it legal to buy it? Or can you be locked up for that?

If you bought it without paying sales tax, there may be a problem. Same for selling it without reporting the income.

State Law will probably overide local law, just as in Oakland,CA and Seattle, WA

Apparently this law only makes sense if you are stoned.

It is somewhat like the immigration laws for people coming from Cuba. If you make to the U.S. shore, you are good to stay. If they catch you swimming to shore, your butt will be on the next 1954 Chevy boat back to Cuba.
