Destruction of Eastern Lake

New posts
I think their definition of emergency is when homes and roadways are threatened by flooding. Homes off the canal will flood before most of the lakefront docks submerge.

What was the logic behind purchasing the property to the west of the outfall? As previously stated by myself and others, the outfall's location varies a great deal. I hope they're not setting this up so that they can present this property as an alternative public access so they can give Worth the public right of way.

I guess if there was any logic at all to the idea of purchasing the property to the west of the outflow, it would be to access the property in order to cut open the outflow.

As for emergency openings, I have friends who live on the canal and have not seen the lake level get high enough under normal conditions, to flood their homes. The Lake will open naturally, before it threatens their homes. During major Hurricanes, with storm surge will present threats to those homes built on low ground on concrete slabs.

Why can't they access the outfall via the right of way/beach if they need to open it?

True, under normal conditions, the lake doesn't get high enough to either flood homes or submerge docks, but even before the addition of the extra sand at the outfall, the water level post major storm/hurricane did pose a potential flood danger to some homes before it drained. My concern is that the additional sand will provide the extra inches needed to go from water lapping at your backdoor to water in your house. The outfall has opened both naturally and unnaturally (as well as legally and illegally) post storm to lower the water level.
