Did Rental Tax Go Up to 11.5%?

I just heard that the tax to guests for rentals in SoWal went up to 11.5%. Can someone tell me when that started or will start? Is it just SoWal or other areas (e.g., all of Florida) as well?

It's the same as in one neighboring county, lower than in another - can't remember which.

We rented over Thanksgiving'09 and were charged 11.5%.

It went up to 11.5% in October 2009.

Hey Paula - yep, October 1. DOR still collects 7%, but the TDT is 4.5% now.

Don't know if you read the Local Government forum much, but you might recall much debate last spring/summer about a proposed increase in the bed tax in order to attract low-cost air service to our area.

Thanks, all. I was told by our rental management company that the tax went up to 11.5% and I had been telling potential guests 11%, so I'll now tell the potential guests the correct amount.
