Do kids hate people who give out something other than candy?

New posts
Im going to be honest here and say yes (mine are 11 and 13) but they do enjoy getting something different if its cool......

A lady in Flamingo Village passed out granola bars three years ago. I had to turn Wes around and make him go back and thank her.

Stickers and all would be great, but I'd still have a little candy to accompany them. (But not the real chewy kind, in case the parent goes in to eat some of it up. I think my son's Halloween candy from last year bought Christmas for my dentist's family  )

:( Our neighborhood suks. No one has ever come to our door and I decorate so cute. Oh well we finally gave up and now go to Seaside.

I would appreciate it if Little IBD got something other than candy. I end up throwing half of it away or I will eat it..and she is probably the only kid in the world who does not like, chocolate, ice cream and french fries... I guess that can be a good thing.

We also keep fruit juices avail for the little wee ones and also the kids get thirsty from walking around. My nephew does not like candy very much either, so besides the fruit juices, I have Scooby Snacks or little packs of Cheerios for those kids. They sell those now travel size. But the big kids want CANDY!!!

Okay. So maybe a toy and some kind of candy, then. :)
I just know I'll eat all of the leftovers, which is why I don't
really want all that candy around my house.

The way to not have leftovers is to give the last of the candy to the last of the trick-or-treaters. If Louisville is like Indy, you can safely turn off your lights and lock the door at 8 pm (or 9 pm; forget which). The kids who come at the last hour get the mother lode.

The other trick I use, since I do the same as you and eat all the Halloween candy :!: is to buy candy I'm not too crazy about. That mostly works.

This is what I do too, otherwise I'd eat it all BEFORE Halloween. I buy stuff like Smartees (sorry, Allifunn:wub: ) and sour stuff. No chocolate, and especially, no chocolate with nuts ( ).

If I have leftover candy I pack it all up and send it into GTTBD's office the next day. They'll eat anything! If he gets in by 7am the candy is usually gone by 7:15! :funn:
