A phobia?

I have several. More as I've gotten older.

clowns, I'm afraid of clowns

clowns, I'm afraid of clowns
I'm not afraid of them so much, as I hate them. I would be an insane clown killer in an alternate reality. I don't like heights so much, but I want to skydive, and I don't really like to be under water either. I like air and earth. I also don't like sock monkeys. They're shifty I tell ya!

I have a healthy fear of heights which sometimes I glimpse could become irrational. I could be claustrophobic if someone buried me alive like the bride in Kill Bill.

Germaphobe.

But that fear was raised times infinity when hubby got a staph infection in 2009. As the Emory CDC MD/professor explained to us, everyone has staph on their skin. My theory is that staph entered hubby's body after pruning saw palmettos at the beach house. After that he got a high fever and was on IV antibiotics at a local hospital for 6 weeks (not long enough, according to Emory). Tests were negative for staph. Then he started having back pain. As a former Div I college basketball player, he had a history of back problems (as does our daughter, a former walk-on for the MIT basketball team). He went to a well-known orthopedic clinic in Columbus. He was given every test and treatment they could think of. He was still in severe pain.

As I've said before, I happened to Google staph and back pain, and bingo, I diagnosed him. The clinic sent him to Emory because they said they have no expertise in infectious disease. Neither do I, but I'm smart enough to do some research.

The staph had set up in the disk between L1 and L2 and done major damage. Emory scheduled surgery ASAP. The surgeon said that if I hadn't diagnosed this, he would have been dead in a few weeks.

So, yes, I'm a mega-germaphobe.

I'm planning on doing it on 11/11/11 or 1/28/12. You should jump with me. I don't know if they still have the drop zone in PC or not, but we could find one nearby.

Me too! but... maybe my real phobia is being scared I couldn't jump when the time came.

I used to want to skydive. No more!

heights definitely get to me these days. as well as rollercoasters and rides - used to LOVE 'em! I can still do the rides but I definitely freak. No sky diving for me.

Now I can't stand to fly in an airplane either.

I have a new fear of being served those horrible coated french fries.

DD - what are your phobias?

Oh Toots, I think I have many. Not sure of the names of all of them. I shall research that.
Heights
Crowds
Closed in spaces
Airplanes (not because of the height-but the closed in part and about a million other reasons)
Escalators
Balls flying through the air toward me:blink:
Germs (not to an extreme though)
Hair where it's not supposed to be:creepy:
Spoiled food:puke:
Driving at night

That's all I can think of right now. I'm sure I'll have more as they're mentioned.
