Shelley was an anonymous poster (both gender and identity were unknown to most) who gained fame for accurately predicting the recession and housing bubble bursting.

You can search on his posts. Yeah, I'm quite sure Shelly was a guy based on something I can't quite recall him saying.

If Shelly had actually "predicted" the market, he probably wouldn't have had to leave. I think Shelly was actually "experiencing" the market, doubting his own decision in hindsight, sharing his first hand experience along the way.
