It’s sad that family traditions go by the wayside once the kids go to college and parents get older. The family used to come to our house, we’d color eggs and cook on Saturday, on Sunday we’d go to church, I’d serve a nice dinner, and we’d have an Easter egg hunt which was a hilarious event because my brother is hilarious.

Now I’m just thankful that Mom was able to go with us Blue Ridge Grill in Atlanta on Easter (second time she's been well enough to celebrate with us since probably 2005), that our daughter was with us (her hubby had a huge final project due as a grad student at Georgia Tech), and that at least my brother was able to be there (no sister, no sis-in-law, no nephews).

I think we'll have to change our traditon again next year because it really tired Mom out to go from Newnan to Atlanta and back. I think we'll eat a few bites of lunch with Mom at her assisted-living facility in Newnan to make it easy for Mom, then go to Atlanta and have a real dinner with daughter and her husband so that then he can visit with his parents in Alpharetta. So complicated.

I still wish everyone could come to my house and eat home-cooked food and not have to wait for a table 90 minutes (even though we had reservations) and have an Easter egg hunt. I am just thankful for those memories.

I know that traditions will change again when our daughter and her husband have babies. Easter egg hunts again!

You KNOW it! Soft shell crab, sauteed in butter; fresh kumquats and loquats from the garden; shrimp and banana fritattas... and last but not least... Peeps and Champagne with fresh mulberries! I thought it was a terrific combo...

God awful early 6AM service, breakas at The White House, home by 8:30 for a nice long nap. Afternoon drinks and friends over for al fresco supper. Parts of this change every year, however. :)
