:clap:What an awsome article today on the front page of the local section of Daily News about the baby racoon. It is so great that we have an organization here in the area that helps injured wildlife, such as the baby racoon in the article. After reading the article, I did some research of the organization and found it to be a non-profit organization and only operates on donations from the public. Every few weeks they put on fun raisers to raise money to feed the animals and pay for the up keep of them. It's located in Destin but in the next few months they are going to be moving to Nukose Plantation in Freeport. Nukose Plantation is several thousand acers owned by M.C. Davis put aside for preserving wildlife. The ECWR also has "animal ambassadors" which are animals that have been hurt by humans that can not be released back into the wild due to their injuries. Check out their website at www.ecwildliferefuge.com . From what I also understand they deal with all types of wildlife from dolphins and sea turtles on the beach to deer, hawks, opossums, racoons etc. up in the northern part of Walton and Okaloosa counties. They work hand and hand with Florida Game and Fish. I'm so happy for the baby racoon and his new leg in the future. It's so sad that humans have to be so cruel to the animals in this day in time. If you find any type of wildlife that is injured or want to donate to the ECWR please call the staff at 650-1880.:clap:Good luck baby racoon and may God Bless all the the staff at the ECWR you have such big hearts!!!!

Building

I just heard today that they are going to have to come up with $2,000 a month for rent on the building they are in now. It was being paid by a realtor but times are tough and she could no longer afford to donate the rent.
They have a great set up and could really use help with the rent.

I took a baby bird there earlier this year and it's a great facility. They do so much for wild animals. There were a few owls in the waiting room and it was really amazing to watch. I will send a donation today.
