:clap_1: BEACH RUNNER, Grayt job for being on top of it so quickly. I think all of us dog owners are grateful to caring people like you. We have had all 3 of our dogs at various times get out (once all three went out after the fattest had dug a hole under the fence) The panic that sets in accelarates the longer they are out there. We have been very lucky to have been able to get them all back in one piece.
My daughter is the worst in our family. I can't tell you how many times we have picked up dogs in the street, tracking down owners. I think she has this built-in radar for lost or runaway dogs!

The problem is that even if you have a microchip in your dog as Pepper does, most people I know don't have a microchip reader (duh, BR). Last night's experience has convinced me to get a tag for Pepper with our contact information on it so that if (God forbid) she gets out of the fenced area or slips out the front door, someone who finds her can contact us immediately -- before I have a heart attack.

Both our little fur babies have microchips and tags with all our info including cell phone numbers. That was little consolation in October when Mr. Guinness dug under our fence and went for a 3 hour walk-about. :bang: Thank goodness a super gentleman that was driving down our street got his description. Within 3 minutes he located him. In an area I had searched repeatedly. He said he'd tried to get him to go with him, with no sucess. He waited while I "fetched" him and made sure all was well.

I was an absolute mess! Mermy and Merman came to the resuce with hugs and a frosty refreshment to "soothe" the nerves.

You are the hero of the fur babies BR. Glad it had a happy ending.

Thank God I came home and read the dog's owner had been found. As soon as I saw this I had a terrible knot in my stomach. I went to do some work at the cafe and had two glasses of wine and brought the bottle home with me in case I needed the rest of it!

Okay I feel better...I just couldn't take this kind of stress! so glad there is so many animal lovers on SoWal!!!We need to all watch out for those sweet children. I'm sure the owner/s was out of their minds with worry....but so happy now!!!!

Thanks, everyone. I just know if it were my dog, I would pray that someone would care for her. I can't tell you how many times I've rescued the owner of Caf? Thirty-A's dog from the middle of Highway 30-A. Unfortunately, her dog died a couple of months ago. I heard that it was just old age, not getting hit by a car. Still sad. :(

One day I retrieved our neighbor's small dog who had slipped through a hole dug under the fence around their pool by their big dog. When I opened the gate to put the little dog inside their house, the big dog slipped out. The dog headed towards the beach and west. I ran as hard as I could, begging people on the beach to stop the dog. Finally after I ran as hard as I could for 1/2 mile, someone stopped it, and I dragged it back home. What a workout!

I love dogs.
