Yes, I don't think one has fully lived until he or she has seen Smokey and the Bandit. "Git in da car, Junia." As I posted previously, my fav from that movie is, "give me cheeseburga, large fry and a Dr Peppa, and make it fast. I'm in a GD hurry. I'm afta da Bandit."

Remember, I am refraining from watching it at the moment to save you the craziness.

Ain't no way.... No Way you came from my loins.:laughing1

Some lines from a Waylon Jennings song - not my favorite but they make me laugh like crazy because they may be some of the silliest lyrics ever. Here they are:

They ought to give me the Wurlitzer prize
for all the silver I let slide
down the slot
playing those songs sung blue.

More Princess Bride?:

Good night, Westley, most likely kill you in the morning

LIAR... LIAR, LIAR LIAAAR...!
Get away from me witch!
LIAAAAR!
I'm not listening, I don't hear nothing...

You mean if I Miracle this guy, the stinking King's son suffers? Now, THAT'S a noble cause. Gimme my hat, Miracle Max is on the job!

woohoohoo, look who knows so much... No, you're friend here's only mostly dead. If he's completely dead, there's only one thing to do.
What's that?
Rifle through his clothes and look for loose change.

Mawwiage... Mawwiage, is what brings us togevver...

You know what I love, an MLT. A Mutton Lettuce and Tomato sandwich, when the Mutton is so perky, I love that...

Bye... Bye... Have fun stormin the castle boys!
Think it'll work?
It would take a miracle

Why does my head hurt?
You've been mostly dead all day.

Where did we put the Albino's wheelbarrow?
Over the Albino, I think
If we only had a holocaust cloth.
Like this?
Where di u git tha?
From Miracle Max, he said it was my size.
Why didn't... you list that... among our assets... in the first place?

Given there's shortage of perfect breasts in the world, it would seem a shame to damage yours

What'll you do now?
I don't know, there's not much money in the revenge business.
You'd make a great Dread Pirate Roberts

O.K., what is your favorite movie moment?

Two that stand out to me since we watched "Two Towers" last night--Legolas when he swung up on the horse as it was running past him. From "Return of the King" Legolas doing the same thing on an elephant (and getting all the bad guys in about 15 seconds flat).

On a lighter note. Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy giving Lizzie "the look" in the BBC/A&E production of Pride and Prejudice. You women who have seen it know what I'm talking about . . . You women who haven't seen it are missing out. Don't bother guys it is the quintessential chick flick.

Camp Creek Kid, whe I saw this I had to make sure it wasn't me who wrote it! These three things would be my exact choices for favorable movie moments. I have watched the Legolas scenes you mentioned repeatedly in slow mo just to see how the heck they did that. Excellent special effects there! A&Es P&P was just excellent all the way around. All of the actors fit their characters perfectly. But "the look" was definitely the most striking part.

In addition to those, I loved the ending of The Gladiator, when they carry Russell Crowe off the field in honor. Also, Anne of Green Gables, at the end when Gilbert calls her carrots again.

Ditto on Anne of Green Gables. I haven't seen Gladiator yet. I think you have very good taste.

My favorite version of Pride and Prejudice is the old BBC production from the 80's. It is a stark production, with no 'name' actors, but man did they ever do a good job.

But I digress. Some favorite moments:

Billy Elliot
When the dad is desperate to make money for his son's ballet, and attempts to go back down in the mine during the strike, and the older son intercedes.
Also, the very end, when father and son come to London to see grown up Billy perform.

Soldier of Orange my favorite war movie ever
Rutger Hauer, undercover, sneaks into Holland, slips into a fancy German cocktail party. He sees his old college firiend, who is now a Nazi, and they dance a very ironic tango.

Last of the Mohicans
At the fort, when Hawkeye and Cora first acknowledge their attraction to each other.
"What are you looking at?"
"I'm looking at you, Miss." So little is said, but so much conveyed.

Much Ado About Nothing
From a hill above Messina, picnicking ladies see that their soldier friends are returning from battle on horseback. There is much ado as the buxom ladies run to powder their noses and change gowns, and the dusty but dashing soldiers gallop in, bathe and prepare for a grand night at the palazzo. A glorious opening scene, beautifully lit, and oh so romantic.

Dazed and Confused
So many cool vignettes. The entire movie is a series of 'em. Two faves are so simple, but so effective:
The very first scene, with Aerosmith's "Emotion" playing as Pickford drives into the high school parking lot. This scene expertly takes you right back to the 70's.
Another favorite is a very simple scene, when Pink, Wooderson and Mitch walk into the pool hall. That's it, they just walk in. Bob Dylan's "Hurricane" is playing. Each guy is feeling differently, each guy has a different expression on his face, is carrying himself differently.
Okay, I gotta throw in a third one: the bowling ball scene, where freshman Mitch is told to throw the bowling ball from a moving car, does so, and it busts open the rear window of a parked car. The initial pause of quiet, then ensuing nervous laughter is perfectly portrayed.

I LOVE this thread!!
GTTBM--I also love many of the lines in "Oh, Brother Where Art Thou"! Especially when Ulysses is trying to get the car part and is told it will take two weeks to get it, and then he asks for his hair pomade and is told they can order it-take two weeks to get it...and he says..."Well ain't this a georgraphical oddity--two weeks from everywhere". :rolling:

Favorite lines from songs: Jimmy Buffet
"A Pirate Looks at Forty" --"Mother Mother Ocean, I have heard you call......"
Jackson Browne: Every line of every song!

Movie Moment: In Jagged Edge, when the detective guy takes Glenn Close's face in his hands at the end and you think he's going to say something really poignant (sp) because she's just shot her lover that just tried to kill her..
"F*** him, he was trash".

I'm sure I will think of more as the day goes on...
Great thread SJ..

Movie Question,

Anyone remember the name of the RV in Stripes that was outfitted for urban combat? I can't find it on google anywhere. :idontno:
