Fever Virus?

Anybody know of some type of fever virus going around right now? I felt really tired yesterday and then got some achy joints and a little higher body temperature last night. It's not that bad, but I'd love to know how long it's going to last. :(

Sounds like what everyone else around here are getting. Hold on to your horses if it is b/c it lasts a while. Then it sometimes keeps coming back. Antibiotics usually help it. I hope you feel better. I've had it many times and it is no fun.

Bdarg and Kate have both had it- nothing real specific, mostly a fever and fatigue, and they got it about a week apart. I wouldn't take antibiotics for a virus, and I imagine most doctors wouldn't give you antibiotics for just a fever and body aches. Advil and rest work just fine, in fact, when the Advil was working Kate felt great, but we couldn't send her to school, so she had 2 days of "staycation". Blaine gave up on day 4 and went to work.
It is a weird one though!

I am one of those people who never get sick, but I have slept on and off all day today. I'm also a believer in taking no medicine, and I've stayed away from the advil but will go there if I have to function. Trying to decide if I need to go to the dr.; probably will tomorrow if I'm not better. Here's hoping my hubby stays well! Thanks for the info!

Our doc told us that taking the Advil will not prolong the length of the virus, so you might as well be comfortable. If you have no other symptoms it sounds just like what is going around and you will be feeling better in a few days. Blaine had it 4 days, Kate was only two. Advil worked like a charm for both.

I am sorry you are still feeling sick. It seems to be one of those bugs that does not want to go away. Every time I have had it I had to get on antibiotics and that is the only way it went away. One time I just tried to wait it out and ended up with bronchitis so that is why I know for what I had I have to get the antibiotics and the sooner the better. I hate taking all these antiobiotics b/c you can become immune to them, but it is the only way I get rid of it. I hope you husband does not get it either. It seems to be very contagious, but some people seem to have better immune systems and don't catch it even being around those that have it. It is a very strange illness and for unfortunate ones like me, it can come back many times. I've never been this sick as I have this winter. I hope you feel better soon and if not you really should go to the doc. Best of luck to you.

Mine turned out to be a virus as I feel better today with no fever. The highest my fever got yesterday was 100.4 so was able to make it without advil No other symptoms except for some diarrhea, achy joints & slight headache. Guess it was just something going around I was unlucky enough to catch!
